Bright House Family

Bright House Networks provides cable television entertainment and high speed Internet access to more than 770,000 customers in a nine-county area of Central Florida. During 2001, the company completed a $350 million upgrade of its 16,000-mile cable network to a state-of-the-art fiber network with related customer equipment. The fiber network provides the industry's highest level of reliability, enhanced picture and sound quality, greater channel capacity and the fastest Internet access service available. The fiber network also serves as the platform for new services such as iCONTROL Video On Demand and Subscription Video On Demand, Premium On Demand and multiple national and regional high speed Internet services.

In October 1998 the company launched a 24-hour local news channel, Central Florida News 13. Highly popular with customers, News 13 is operated exclusively by Bright House Networks.

The launch of Digital Cable service in 1999 expanded the home entertainment programming to more than 300 channels. That same year, the company began offering Road Runner High Speed Online, its high speed Internet access service that delivers speeds up to 100 times faster than a traditional dial-up modem.

The Central Florida Division received the Governor's Business Leadership Award and Industry of the Year honors in 1999. The Division has five times been recognized with a top award for Corporate Support of the Arts by United Arts of Central Florida. The company also received a Business Partner Recognition Award from the Orange/Osceola/Valencia School-to-Work Partnership, as well as a Leadership Award from Arts for a Complete Education (ACE) and the Florida Alliance for Arts Education (FAAE).

Bright House Networks is managed by Advance/Newhouse and serves over 2 million customers in cable television systems in and around Tampa Bay, Central Florida, Indianapolis, Birmingham, Bakersfield and Detroit along with several smaller systems in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. The company also exclusively provides Central Florida News 13 and Bay News 9, 24-hour local news stations in Central Florida and the Tampa Bay Area. Advance/Newhouse is a privately held company headquartered in Syracuse, New York. The Advance/Newhouse partners' other interests include Conde Nast and Fairchild magazines, PARADE magazine, daily newspapers serving 26 cities, American City Business Journals, which publishes business journals in over 45 cities, Advance Internet and CondeNet, producers of online services, and significant interests in Discovery Communications Inc. and Time Warner Telecom Inc.
